ARTIST'S PERFORMANCES

Jérôme Poloczek, Et, 2024, 8 minutes

Autobiographical phrases are spoken. Between each one, the same statement recurs. At first inaudible, it can only be read on the lips. Gradually, its volume increases until it reaches normal volume. Gradually, after each utterance, we hear “and I'm going to die”.

Charlotte Flamand. Une proposition
For the opening of her solo exhibition Matrix Verbatim at Rossicontemporary, Charlotte Flamand designed delicately pierced wine glasses. Throughout the afternoon, to the surprise of the visitors, a single drop of white wine continually dripped from a concealed perforation down their glasses.

Juan Cañizares. Une chambre. Le temps est bon, le ciel est bleu
In the framework of his exhibition Une chambre. Le temps est bon, le ciel est bleu (May – July 2017), the artist Juan Cañizares held 20 times a 2-hour performance with guests who had accepted to meet him individually in order to remake the exhibition installation with him. A room, a curtain, two chairs, a table. On the latter, a cardboard box containing found photos, on the walls eight shelves with smaller boxes. Each guest sat at the table with the artist, opened the box, looked at the pictures and started a conversation with him. Following the guest memories, sometimes the artist’s ones, each meeting was unique. Little by little, the images each guest selected came to replace those displayed the previous days.

The artist and the gallery wish to thank Gilles Bechet, Sandra Caltagirone, Marie Constant, Emmanuel D'Autreppe, François Deconinck, David Delruelle, Frederic de Goldschmidt, Anne-Esther Henao, Christine Jamart, Drita Kotaji, Emmanuel Lambion, Emilie Lecouturier, Francine Pairon, Pelusa Salazar, Kurt Snoek, Jean-Philippe Theyskens, Septembre Tiberghien, Christophe Veys, Pascale Viscardy, Edith Warzee for their participation.
